TEAM Celebrates 20 YEARS

Twenty years.  In some ways it sounds like a long time.  To some of us it just seems like yesterday.

In 1983 the President of the United States was Ronald Reagan.  The Vice-President was the "other" George Bush.  Bread was $0.54 a loaf, gas was $1.23/gallon, and minimum wage was $3.35/hour.

The tank industry was rather different then as well.  There was no API Standard 653.  There were no NACE Certified Coating Inspectors.  But, in a house in Tampa, Florida was the beginning of Tank Engineering And Management Consultants, Inc.  At that time the name was bigger than the office.  The "staff" was just the owner, Jim Pandolph, and one secretary.

A lot has changed in the tank industry since then.  Different ideas for testing, inspection, coatings, liners, and secondary containments have come and some have gone.  But, right in the middle of all that was TEAM Consultants.  That's right.  If it's been done to a tank, we've probably either done it ourselves or at least seen it done, or talked to someone who has done it.

We've always based our business on sound engineering practice.  While our competition goes off on tangents based on somebody's whim, we just sit and watch, and wait.  Sure enough, in a few years, they're not around anymore.  We've seen people get into projects that are way over their head and then complain that it "just doesn't work."  Well, if you look back to sound engineering practice, there's usually an explanation.  Some inspectors read API-653, take the test, and immediately set out to change the world.  In reality, they still have a lot to learn.

Here at TEAM Consultants we have over 70 years of combined experience to lean on.  We were there.  We saw it.  We've now grown out of that small house office.  Now we have four API-653 Certified Inspectors on staff, a NACE Certified Coating Inspector, a NACE Certified Corrosion Technologist, three engineering degrees, and lots of experience.  So, the next time a question about your tank comes up, give TEAM Consultants a call.  We've probably seen one just like it somewhere.

Remember that tank one time …
