The basis for any tank management program would
be a thorough assessment of the storage tank(s).
This assessment
will serve as a reference for all future repairs and
upgrades. This
applies to all types of tanks including water storage tanks, petrochemical
storage tanks mineral acid storage tanks, Pressure vessels. Most
petroleum storage tanks fall under API-650 and API-653 standards which require
an Out-Of-Service inspection at least every 20 years and an In-Service
inspection at least every 5 years depending on corrosion rates and inspection
results. TEAM's capable staff of certified inspectors have the knowledge and
experience to perform a thorough assessment of your tank.
2. Piping Integrity Assessment: With the advent of recent regulations came the term
"tank system." Not only must the tank be inspected, but the piping
connected to the tank must be inspected for integrity. A leak in the pipe is the
same as a leak in the tank and may be even more hazardous depending on the
location. The piping for each tank will be inspected in accordance with API-570
standards.
3. Secondary Containment Assessment: With increasingly complex regulations and laws
pertaining to secondary containment systems, this is one area that should be
assessed by professionals familiar with the "market-basket" of
requirements. There are many "snake oil" salesmen out there with
different ideas of what is legal and acceptable. TEAM can give you a direction
based on sound engineering practice and requirements of the law as it applies to
you.
4. Engineering Review & Design: After all of the systems are inspected and documented,
TEAM will review the entire facility and recommend repairs and upgrades to meet
the requirements of the law and to make your system operate more efficiently. We
provide complete and thorough Spill Prevention Control & Countermeasure (SPCC)
plans and Facility Response (FRP) plans.
After a plan is approved, TEAM
has the capability of making it a reality. With the extensive construction
background of our staff, we have the means and methods to accomplish your
desired results quickly and done right the first time.
Just like a finely tuned machine, periodic inspections
are worth thousands of dollars in savings from emergency failures and unforeseen
problems. A periodic inspection by a knowledgeable professional can uncover
potential problems before they become expensive emergencies.
7. Documentation & Recordkeeping: The "backbone" of the TTM plan is the Tank
and/or Terminal Inspection Notebook created for every tank or terminal that we
inspect. This notebook contains all reports, drawings, and photos for the
initial inspection, and repair documentation for all subsequent repairs. Future
inspection reports are inserted into the notebook as they are completed. If any
repairs are made in the future, the documentation will be inserted also. The
notebook is a "living document" that chronicles the life of the tank.
When the government inspectors ask any question about a specific tank and it's
terminal system, the answer will be right in the TTM notebook.
