DON'T WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE!! Florida Department of Environmental Protection Rule 62-555.350(2) Effective August 28, 2003: "Finished drinking water storage tanks, including conventional hydro pneumatic tanks with an access manhole but excluding bladder- or diaphragm-type hydro pneumatic tanks without an access manhole, shall be checked at least annually to ensure that hatches are closed and screens are in place; shall be cleaned at least once every five years to remove biogrowths, calcium or iron/manganese deposits, and sludge from inside the tanks;and shall be thoroughly inspected for structural and coating integrity at least once every five years by personnel under the responsible charge of a professional engineer licensed in Florida."There are over 5000 potable water tanks in Florida that are affected by this rule. If we cleaned and inspected one tank per day, it would take over 13 years to complete them all. The FDEP has provided a grace period until August of 2008, to comply with this rule...and our schedule is filling quickly. Don't get caught on the outside, get on our schedule now. 2008 is just around the corner!
